| local.description.annotation | In the history of human civilisation, there are splendid examples of the synthesis of architecture and sculpture. The dramatic change of world view in the 19-20th centuries has also caused changes in the relationship of architecture and sculpture. The technical progress and the growing standardisation of life have led to the predominance of functional objectives in architecture. Minimalism and functionalism have deprived sculpture of its distinctive features which used to characterise it over the course of history. In a new city, the spiritual exchange between man and nature is disrupted, and separate elements only find unity in the mind of an individual. The appearance of urban sculpture is one of the attempts to re-establish the balance between architecture and sculpture which has been upset by the new social structure. | en |
